Governors

The Governing body consists of:-

  The Headteacher

  8 Foundation Governors

  2 Parent Governors

  1 Local Education Authority Governor

  1 Teacher Representative

  1 Non-Teaching Representative

Powers and Duties of the Governing Body are;

  helping to establish (with the head) the aims and policies of the school, and how the

  standards of education can be improved:

  deciding the conduct of the school - that is, how in general terms it should be run:

  helping to draw up (with the head and staff) the school development plan:

  helping to decide how to spend the school's budget; and monitor spending.

  making sure that the National Curriculum and Religious Education are taught:

  selecting the head:

  appointing, promoting, supporting and disciplining other staff:

  acting as a link between the local community and the school:

  drawing up the action plan after an inspection and monitoring how the plan is put into

  practice.

  implement the school's health and safety (at work) policy.

The governing body meets twice a term. There is also a Finance sub-committee and two working parties (Curriculum and Premises/Health and Safety) which report back to the full governing body.

Finally, the governing body acts as a group and not as individuals.

Parents are able to make an appointment to read past minutes of the Governors meetings.
