Year 4 Residential Visit

04.03.2011 - Report received from Mr Meekings that another extremely peaceful night was enjoyed by all. The children were all in bed by 9.30 pm and the staff by 10.30 pm!! (all that fresh air and exercise!!).

After their welcome evening meal last night the children had a great time joining in with lots of games and fun.

9.15 am  The children are up, dressed, eaten their sausages for breakfast, packed their things and are ready to drive to the Slate Caverns where they will enjoy a guided tour.
PARTY DUE BACK AT SCHOOL TODAY AT 4.00 PM

03.03.2011 - Early morning (6.30 am) telephone call received from Mr Meekings who reported that a peaceful night had been had by all. Yesterday evening, after dinner (sausage, mash and onion gravy! followed by sticky toffee pudding) the children took part in the moonlight walk along the beach which they all thoroughly enjoyed, they didn't return to The Mountain Centre until approximately 9.30 pm when they had hot chocolate and were allowed treats from the Tuck Shop. Lights out at 10.30 pm and from 11.00 pm - all was quiet. At 6.30 am Mr Meekings was the only person up and about and he advised he would be "gently easing them from their slumbers" at approximately 7.30 am when they would all be enjoying hash browns and baked beans, followed by cereal and toast - they would then be allowed to make their own packed lunches before they set off for their Mountain Walk.

At 6.30 am the weather was reported as "cold, but not bitter, light and Mr Meekings felt it was brightening up into a lovely day" - watch this space......!!

Later Telephone call received to advise that the children had enjoyed their breakfast, had made their lunch and were kitted out, ready to start their walk. The weather was reported as "blue sky, not cold and the sun shining" - see photographic proof by clicking picture gallery above.

5.20 pm  Mr Meekings phoned to advise that everyone had enjoyed their beautiful day out in the sunshine. The children had all behaved wonderfully and coped really well with the mountain walk, so well that the Guides had commented on how well they had done for their age, they had been out walking from approximately 10. 30 am - 4.30 pm and covered over 9 km (with no moans/groans or complaints!).

The children were all still very lively, looking forward to their roast dinner, to be followed by games this evening - the intention was to get them off to bed a little earlier tonight than last night!

02.03.2011 - The children all looked happy when they left Great Addington Primary at approximately 9.35 am (some had even started eating their chocolate bars, packed ready for the long hill walk tomorrow!!).

Telephone call received just before midday to advise that the journey was proceeding well and the children were all happily enjoying their lunch (see photo gallery for photograph - link above).

02.20 pm  Report received that the sun was shining, the sky was blue (not a cloud to spoil the view....lah lah lah....) and the children were running along the beach and digging for treasure! - only a short journey left to The Christian Mountain Centre. The children were all happy (no travel sickness on the GA bus!!) and had enjoyed the journey and were so warm they were asking to take their coats off (refused!!).
